Flossing is extremely important to do regularly while you have braces. It can be easy to get food stuck in your teeth with braces, and if it gets stuck for too long, it can result in tooth decay and cavities. Keep your teeth healthy with regular flossing!

But hen you first get braces, you might have one important question – how do I floss!? Here is a quick guide to flossing with braces:

  • Use a floss threader, which is a small plastic needle that will help you send the floss between the wires and your teeth. Thread a piece of floss onto the needle.
  • Use the needle to get the floss behind the wires, then use your hands to manipulate the floss. Move it up and down to get the floss behind the wires
  • Floss between your teeth as you normally would without braces. Move the floss up and down a few times on each side to remove any food particles.

After you finish flossing, you may want to use a water pik or proxy brush to remove any loosened food particles and ensure your teeth and braces are clean. Now you’re ready to floss and keep those teeth shiny and bright!
