New to braces or had them on for a few months and not sure if you remember all the “no no’s” for braces? We’ve got you covered. We have compiled a list of some of the main things to avoid now that you have braces to avoid bending or breaking them and most importantly, avoiding pain for your mouth.

Chewing on ice, gum and sticky things- Biting on ice or chewing on sticky candy or gum can cause you braces to bend and break which will cause pain for you as well as require a visit to your orthodontist to have the affected sections repaired.

Avoiding Floss- Just like it is important to floss without braces, it is even more important when you do have them because food can get trapped between the wires and between your teeth. If left there, your teeth will develop plaque and will begin to eat away at the enamel of your teeth, causing other dental issues. It isn’t easy to floss with braces, but it is very important and should not be skipped.
