Is Invisalign Right For You?

Maybe you had braces as a child, but now your teeth have moved. Or maybe you’ve never had braces, but you’re interested in making your teeth straighter. It might be time to consider Invisalign?

Invisalign works like braces, though instead of metal brackets and wires, it’s a series of clear plastic retainers that move your teeth incrementally, week by week. You wear them all day (except when eating) and can take anywhere from 4 months to a year.

Invisalign is a common solution for adult patients, who want to avoid the appearance of metal braces. While unfortunately some patients do need metal braces, Invisalign is a great option for many.

Invisalign retainers are practically invisible when you are wearing them. You might have a slight lisp at the beginning, but as your mouth gets used to wearing the retainers, it should go away. We have many patients who say their friends don’t even notice they’re wearing the retainers!

They do need to be removed while eating, and otherwise should be worn 24 hours a day. Each week, you switch to the next set of retainers. And once a month or so, you’ll come into our office for a consultation, where we make sure they are fitting correctly, and we provide you with the next set.
